Although my artwork spans  diverse subjects, my favorite is people. Portrait art allows me to openly express the love I have for the complexity of the human spirit,  and my belief that  all people are uniquely beautiful.  I work in acrylics, watercolor, pastel, and pencil, and often use combinations in order to capture a feeling or a texture.

One might say I have always wanted to 'be an artist when I grew up'. My background in art began as a child, studying painting while enjoying special time with my grandfather who was an accomplished watercolorist.   My more formal schooling in art was in the Washington DC and Baltimore MD metro areas; and then later in college in Philadelphia PA where I studied Art Education and Photography. My course study included graphic design, sculpture and furniture design, interior design, painting, photography, and illustration.  I had the incredible opportunity through my college instructor to work with a professional artist in NY city upon several occasions, and was also able to assist running the campus gallery.

Having spent the past 13 years creating my most phenomenal works of art--my four children--I am once again returning to creating works on canvas and paper.  My inspiration has grown over the years to express the simultaneous joy and chaos of family life, the continuous search for tranquility in a world of constant change, and some of my paintings have been inspired by my children and their stories. The love and support of my husband and family--all my family--has allowed me to continue my dream of being an artist when I grow up.  It is to all of them I give my thanks, and dedicate my future works including this site.

Thank you also goes to the Halifax County Arts Council and its members and artists for giving me the opportunity to share my world.
